On December 18, 2024, there were two serious traffic accidents in Styria, which resulted in several injuries. Also at midday on December 18th, a serious accident occurred on the B 72 in Thannhausen. A 69-year-old driver from the Weiz district collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle driven by a 55-year-old woman, resulting in some serious injuries. The ARF.at reported that all three people involved, including the 69-year-old and his 70-year-old passenger, were taken to the LKH Weiz by the Red Cross for treatment. The accident led to the B72 being closed for about an hour while rescue work and investigations into the cause of the accident took place.
