Horrible fall in the Harz Mountains: Man falls three meters into a light shaft!
A dramatic incident shook the Harz! A 35-year-old man from Braunlage fell from a height of three meters into a light shaft around 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The terrifying moment occurred in the Dr. Kurt Schroeder Promenade when the man accidentally stepped on the unsafe security gate that was not properly installed. Police confirmed that the fall was not self-inflicted.
The Braunlage fire department was quickly on the scene to save the injured man. But the rescue operation was anything but easy! The emergency services first had to gain access to the man, who was trapped in an awkward situation. After about half an hour, the firefighters managed to reach him safely and transport him gently to the ambulance.
Injuries treated in hospital
The man couldn't just go home. Instead, he was immediately taken to a hospital where his injuries were treated professionally. To prevent future accidents, the light shaft was secured with gratings after the incident. A clear indication that safety is a top priority!
