Shock accident on a snowy road: two injured in Geistthal!
On Friday afternoon, December 6, 2024, a spectacular traffic accident occurred on the L315 near Geistthal-Södingberg when a car left the road and fell down a slope with two people on board. How meinkreis.at reported, a 65-year-old man from Graz was traveling towards Geistthal with his 65-year-old passenger when he lost control of the vehicle in a right-hand bend due to slippery snow conditions.
The car fell with full force down the slope and landed on its roof. Despite his injuries, the driver was able to free himself from the vehicle, but his passenger was trapped in the devastated car and had to be rescued by the Geistthal fire department, as well the Styria police said. Both were then transported to UKH Graz with unspecified injuries.
Obstructions in road traffic
The L315 was closed in both directions for almost an hour, causing significant traffic delays. Fire crews set up a local diversion to keep traffic flowing. During this time, the vehicle's skidding on the snow-covered road was a dire warning signal to all road users in the region.
