Shock on the L 99: Quad driver seriously injured after an accident near Köttmannsdorf!

On Thursday afternoon there was a serious traffic accident on Köttmannsdorfer Straße (L 99). A 67-year-old man from the Klagenfurt-Land district was traveling on his quad towards Lambichl around 3:41 p.m. when he left the road in the Trabesing area for reasons that are still unclear. The quad's right front wheel hit a rising guard rail, causing the vehicle to overturn and the driver to be thrown onto the road.

The quad then rolled into the oncoming lane and collided with the car of a 41-year-old woman from Klagenfurt. The 67-year-old suffered serious injuries and was taken to Klagenfurt Hospital in an emergency helicopter. The Köttmannsdorf volunteer fire department was deployed to secure the scene of the accident and provide support. Such serious accidents highlight the dangers in road traffic that affect many people every year.

Road accident statistics in the EU

EU statistics show that a total of 22,800 road deaths were registered in 2019, compared to 4,000 fewer in 2020. However, road traffic remains a major source of danger. Nearly 76 percent of traffic fatalities are men, suggesting that certain demographic groups are particularly at risk.
