Snow rain leads to chaos: three accidents on the A71 at Suhl!
On Saturday afternoon there was a fateful traffic on the A71 between Suhl and Meiningen, triggered by snow and slippery conditions. These weather conditions transformed the road into a dangerous terrain, which resulted in three traffic accidents. A particularly dramatic incident occurred when a car overturned and landed in the ditch. A person was injured. The Suhl fire brigade quickly started to secure the scene of the accident, clean the road and help with the rescue work. The right lane had to be blocked during this work, which led to further traffic disruptions, such as the Inüdthüringen
Serious truck accident leads to massive traffic disruptions
Another incident that also contained the motorway occurred in the morning: a truck that was loaded with 24 tons of sugar beet overturned between the Suhl motorway triangle and the Meiningen-Nord departure. The truck had strayed from the road, crashed into the guardrail and then overturned. The cargo is distributed on the entire road. The 58-year-old driver was slightly injured while his 57-year-old wife was not injured. The local police reported that the highway towards Schweinfurt could be released again after around nine hours of recovery and cleaning work. The property damage is estimated at around 80,000 euros, while the damage to the guardrail is estimated at around 7,000 euros. There was also an incident in the opposite direction, in which a 45-year-old driver crashed against some of the scattered sugar beet, but fortunately remained unharmed, as the mdr reported.
