Rescue workers in action: Seven hikers in distress in the Tyrolean mountains!
On December 24, 2024, several alarming incidents occurred in Tyrol, which were primarily characterized by the efforts of the rescue and emergency services. Near the “Kuhwildalm” in the Hopfgarten municipality, seven German hikers, aged between 21 and 39, found themselves in a critical situation. In the morning, around 10:50 a.m., an emergency call was made after they were unable to reach their destination or turn back due to physical exhaustion and inadequate equipment. These men began their hike on December 23rd from the “Wegscheid” car park towards “Rosswildalm”. Thanks to the efforts of 24 mountain rescuers and the fire department, they were finally able to be taken to the “Bamberger Hütte” where they received first aid My district reports.
Fires and traffic accidents in Innsbruck
At the same time, a fire broke out in a petrol lawnmower in Innsbruck/Hötting, which was caused by hot ash. The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. and subsequently set a pile of wood on fire. Fortunately, the residents were able to bring the fire under control themselves, and the Innsbruck fire department ensured that it was finally extinguished. No one was injured, but the property damage is estimated at a low four-digit euro amount.
There were also two traffic accidents on December 24th: In Völs, a 58-year-old driver got into a rear-end collision when she tried to avoid a slab of snow that had fallen onto the road. A 55-year-old passenger was injured, while the others involved were uninjured. In Musau, a 36-year-old Czech man and a 56-year-old Austrian woman collided head-on, both of whom were also slightly injured and had to be taken to hospital. Both accidents caused significant traffic disruptions and the L-12 had to be closed to investigate the accident.
Additionally, another incident was reported in which a 49-year-old Austrian, who had invested on various cryptocurrency platforms, was caught in an internet fraud. He had initially invested a significant amount, but when he was asked to pay capital gains tax, he filed a complaint, which points to the dangers of such financial transactions, such as Sehn-Suchtberge reports.
