Smoke development in Volkach: Fire brigade saves from technical fire!

A shocking incident occurred on Friday morning in Volkach when an attentive neighbor prevented a potential disaster! At 8:20 a.m., the fire departments from Astheim and Volkach were alerted after the neighbor noticed smoke coming from an apartment building on Sonnenstrasse. A triggered smoke detector and the rising smoke gave rise to fears of the worst - there may have been people in the apartment!

Rapid deployment of the fire brigade

The emergency services quickly arrived at the scene. The operations manager immediately began reconnaissance and setting up the fire-fighting attack. Breathing apparatus wearers made their way to the fourth floor, where the fire had broken out. A turntable ladder was positioned to check the outside of the apartment with a thermal imaging camera. Thanks to a riser, the extinguishing water could be made available quickly so that the firefighters could work under respiratory protection.

Fortunately, it turned out that there were no people in the smoke-filled apartment. The fire was caused by a technical defect in electrical equipment. The firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and brought the equipment outside. The apartment was then thoroughly ventilated using a high-performance fan. The Volkacher team was on site with four emergency vehicles and 20 firefighters, while the Astheim fire department remained on standby. The operation was successfully completed around 10 a.m.
