In a dramatic operation in Hildesheim on Thursday morning, the police went to Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse to calm down a 38-year-old with psychological problems. The man barricaded himself in his apartment after learning that he was to be transported to a psychiatric hospital. Due to the potential danger to other people, the street was closed and several surrounding buildings were evacuated, the reported HAZ.
Rescue workers were called in and when the 38-year-old appeared at the window around 11:25 a.m. and was talking on the phone, he quickly jumped out of the window. Below him was a jumping pad that the fire department had used as a safety measure. He received immediate medical attention and police confirmed he was no longer a threat. The area will remain cordoned off until further notice.

There were also reports of other crimes in Berlin, including anti-Semitic insults on public transport and a robbery in Spandau, where masked people also acted armed. The police are investigating several cases and are looking for possible witnesses to clarify further details about the incidents.
