ÖkoFEN revolutionizes heating technology: Smart system for your home!
On November 4, 2025, the Upper Austrian specialist for renewable heating systems, ÖkoFEN, announced a significant expansion of its product range. From January 1, 2026, an innovative overall system will be brought onto the market that combines battery storage, hybrid inverters and e-charging stations. This system is controlled by the newly developed GreenBOX®, which allows electricity and heat consumption to be intelligently linked.
What’s particularly notable is that the system is designed to be “heat intelligent,” which means it takes heat needs into account in households. Heat accounts for approximately 60 to 70% of total energy consumption in a typical household. The GreenBOX® not only networks battery storage, but also heat pumps, photovoltaic systems (PV systems) and electric car charging stations. In this way, the integration of all components is maximized, allowing for greater efficiency.
Functionality and advantages of the new system
A central feature of the new system is the charging and discharging processes, which are controlled by weather data, the course of the sun, electricity prices and consumption forecasts. This intelligent control is supported by AI-supported algorithms. The system also includes a modular battery storage system with capacities of 7.7 to 30.7 kWh and a hybrid inverter that has an output of between 6 and 20 kW. The system is capable of both black start and emergency power.
With this new offer, ÖkoFEN is responding to the increasing demand for integrated energy solutions. The system offers many advantages, particularly for households with a PV system, heat pump or pellet heating system with surplus electric heating elements. It enables self-consumption to be maximized, relieves pressure on the power grid and offers users increased flexibility. In addition, the modular structure of the system is expandable and can be easily combined with existing PV systems.
Users can control and visualize the entire system centrally via the myPelletronic app. ÖkoFEN is once again positioning itself as a pioneer for sustainable heating solutions that combines electricity and heat in an intelligent system.
In another part of the world, a disturbing incident occurred on November 3rd at the University of Virginia. At 3 p.m. ET, an "active assailant" with a weapon was reported near the Shannon Library. The university immediately issued an emergency warning and advised students to use the “run-hide-fight” strategy. Sirens could be heard in the southern part of campus as the emergency news spread.
Fortunately, the all-clear was given at 4:45 p.m. ET. Brian Coy, a university spokesman, said there was no evidence of an attack at this time and the investigation was ongoing. Police had been unable to identify any threat on or near campus after extensive investigations, and an investigation into a false report was launched. Charlottesville police and firefighters are assisting campus police with the investigation. This incident comes nearly three years after a tragic gun attack that killed three university football players and injured two other students.
Current developments in both the world of renewable energies and the security situation at educational institutions reflect the challenges and changes that our society is confronted with.
