New location for the maypole: Community strengthens Rieden and Zellerberg
The municipality of Rieden at Kaufbeuren faces significant changes: Mayor Inge Weiß reported that the local council has a new, sustainable solution for the maypole on the agenda. The two shooting clubs Rieden and Zellerberg have decided to revitalize the tradition of the maypole setting after the previous foundations have become unsafe. Due to planned property sales and a power line in the way, the locations had to be covered. The volunteer group, known as the "Maibäumler", is actively working for the creation of a new foundation that is to be built on the fire brigade, the Allgäuer Zeitung .
The new location should ensure that tradition will be maintained, with the two rifle clubs alternately set up the maypole. This is considered a strong sign of the connection between Rieden and Zellerberg. In addition, the local council plans to inspect the location in order to determine the details of the foundation. As a further important decision, the quick purchase of a new pump for the Zellerberg pumping station was approved with costs of over seven thousand euros, which uses a further future -oriented measure.
