The man who was taken to the ground and handcuffed had no identification documents and initially refused to testify. His motive remains unclear and his nationality remains unknown. Police searched for more evidence while the entire area around the monument was cordoned off.

In the immediate aftermath of the attack, the police sent a large team of investigators, including dogs and a helicopter, to the large area of ​​the memorial to search for clues. “We are particularly looking for items of clothing and possible additional victims,” explained Nath.
