Leutschach Fire Department: Three missions in a row at Christmas!
The Leutschach volunteer fire department had its hands full during the Christmas holidays. “Law of the series” – that was the key term when the emergency services were alerted three times. The first dramatic incident occurred on the night of December 23rd: a car had veered off the B69 and landed upside down in a pile of wood. The driver was trapped, but thanks to the quick deployment of a hydraulic rescue device, the firefighters under operations manager HBI Alexander Wratschko and BM d.V. Gregor Waltl rescued the person and handed him over to the emergency doctor. Another mission followed on Christmas Eve when a fallen tree had to be removed on the Heiligengeist state road. And while many were celebrating Christmas fairs, the crew was once again challenged: On December 25th, a complex car rescue took place under a bridge in Langegg, with the driver fortunately able to free himself. What was particularly notable was that some fire brigade members were alerted in the middle of Christmas mass and immediately rushed to action, as reported on meinbezirk.at.
The Straning fire department also couldn't calm down. On June 27th she was alerted to a major fire in a workshop in Grafenberg. The fire brigade supported the local emergency services by ensuring the fire-fighting water supply and providing breathing apparatus wearers. A total of 14 members were busy with two vehicles until the evening hours. But the fire department's challenges weren't over yet: the next day, around 1:30 p.m., a siren went off again. A house in Straning was engulfed in flames. Fortunately, there were no people in the building. In order to quickly bring the fire under control, 16 fire departments with over 200 emergency services and support from the Red Cross and police were mobilized. After intensive extinguishing work, some of which took place with respiratory protection and using a turntable ladder, the fire was finally put out, as details from ff-straning.webnode.at describe in detail.
