A dramatic fire shook the community of Staufen in the canton of Aargau on Wednesday evening, February 26, 2025. According to reports from Fireworld A loud bang detonated, followed by metre-high flames and a huge column of smoke when a single-family home on Neudörfli Street was completely engulfed in flames. The fire brigade and police were alerted at 8:15 p.m. and numerous emergency services responded immediately. Despite fire-fighting measures that were quickly initiated, the building was in great danger of collapsing, and one firefighter suffered minor injuries.

Two people who live in the affected house are currently missing. As the Aargau cantonal police announced, the operation was made more difficult by explosions, the cause of which currently remains unclear. 20 minutes reported that the fire department was on site with around 100 firefighters to fight the fire and prevent the fire from spreading to a neighboring building.
