Red alert in Hanover! A dangerous suspicion was expressed on the new building site of the Hannover Medical School (MHH) in Groß-Buchholz: ordnance from the Second World War could be hidden there! After initial investigations, a security area of 1,000 meters must now be set up around the suspected point in order to clarify the situation and initiate possible defusing measures.

Evacuation for 9,000 citizens!

On Saturday, November 30, 2024, at 8:00 a.m., around 9,000 citizens will have to leave the affected area! A care center will be set up in the Roderbruch Integrated Comprehensive School to support the evacuees. The address is Rotekreuzstrasse 23, 30659 Hanover. The doors open promptly at 8 a.m.!

Residents are urged to bring essential items such as medications, baby formula and appropriate clothing. It is expected that they will not be able to return until the evening. If you have any questions, a citizen hotline is available on 0800 / 7 31 31 31. The Hanover fire department has already organized buses that take the evacuees to the care center free of charge. Stops include Schaperplatz and Lathusenstraße.

The MHH has developed a comprehensive protection concept as a complete evacuation of the clinic is not possible. Patients who rely on medical care remain on site. University Hospital operations are reduced to a minimum to ensure everyone's safety. From November 18th, a hotline for inquiries will also be set up to provide citizens and patients with information.
