After the rescue, his life was in danger and he also needed the help of an emergency doctor, who was flown to the scene by rescue helicopter. The Mühlendamm Bridge was temporarily closed to ensure the helicopter landed safely. The rescue workers were able to quickly locate the man at the Mühlendamm Bridge and bring him to a wall below the bridge.
It remains unclear how the man got into the Spree in the first place, making the police investigation crucial to clarify possible accidents, foul play or other circumstances.
