Drama in Berlin: Fire brigade saves man from the Spree at the last second!

On Friday, January 10, 2025, the Berlin fire department was alerted to an operation on Fischerinsel in Berlin-Mitte at around 1:20 p.m. A man was floating in the Spree for unknown reasons when a passer-by spotted him and immediately jumped into the water to help. Luckily, the first responder was able to save himself to the bank.

The fire department used a turntable ladder to rescue the lifeless man from the water. After he was rescued, the man had to be resuscitated. He was then transported to a hospital. Information about the man's current health is currently unknown. The police were also on site and have started an investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of the incident.

The cause of the accident remains unclear

As the  t-online.de reported that the man got into the Spree for reasons that are still unclear. After the rescue, his life was in danger and he also needed the help of an emergency doctor, who was flown to the scene by rescue helicopter. The Mühlendamm Bridge was temporarily closed to ensure the helicopter landed safely. The rescue workers were able to quickly locate the man at the Mühlendamm Bridge and bring him to a wall below the bridge.

It remains unclear how the man got into the Spree in the first place, making the police investigation crucial to clarify possible accidents, foul play or other circumstances.
