Drama on the A7: Full fire and fatal accident shake families!
On December 25, 2024, a vehicle fire occurred on the A7 towards Ulm, near Ellwangen. A BMW, which was driven by a family of four, got into full fire around 9:15 p.m. The family had been able to park and leave the car in good time before the fire broke out completely. The engine compartment of the vehicle was the origin of the fire. Fortunately, all occupants were not injured, but property damage of around 22,000 euros occurred, such as ZVW reported.
Another incident that also took place on the A7 occurred on Saturday evening, December 23. Two cars, one Audi and one VW, were involved. The driver of an audis lost control of his vehicle and collided with another car where a couple was sitting. In this tragic accident, a 58-year-old man died at the scene of the accident, while his wife was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. A family of four that was trapped in the Audi had to be released by the fire brigade. All family members suffered serious but not life -threatening injuries and were also brought to hospitals. The property damage in this incident is estimated at around 80,000 euros, as FR reported.

In connection with the fatal accident, an expert was consulted to clarify the exact cause of the accident. Both vehicles involved were secured and towed. The A7 in the direction of Fulda was completely closed for about four hours due to the accident, which led to significant traffic disruptions. The accident site was briefly closed again on Sunday morning to secure traces.
