The end of an era: Last edition of Im Center tomorrow on ORF 2!

A large chapter on Austrian television will be closed on December 15, 2024 when the last episode of the political discussion round "in the center" is broadcast on ORF 2. After 17 years and 654 programs, the moderation of Claudia Reiterer, which has been the face of the show since 2017, ends. The last program entitled "Can we really say nothing more? - We talk about it" is broadcast at 10.10 p.m. ORF general director Roland Weißmann praised Reiterer for her "fearless" kind of treating complex political issues week after week, and described it as one of the greatest challenges in TV journalism.

But there is already a successor in sight! From January 12, 2025, Susanne Schnabl will take over a newly designed talk show. The moderator was enthusiastic about her new challenge on X (formerly Twitter) and is pleased to present a format that "gives space and time to the big, urgent questions". She plans to give the viewers the opportunity to question political decisions and social developments more detailed.

On the occasion of change, Tobias Pötzelsberger will act as a backup for Schnabl, and the still unnamed format will come to television after the farewell of "in the center". Schnabl will be shown for the last time as a moderator of the previous program "Report" on December 17th before taking over the management of the new discussion. Meanwhile, the future of Claudia Reiterer remains uncertain after playing a central role in Austria's political reporting for almost eight years, which shows the number of spectators with an average of 454,000 spectators.
