Drama in Kranjska Gora: Kristoffersen leads, Haaser fights with slopes!
in the magnet of alpine ski racing, Kranjska Gora, the Norwegian ski star Henrik Kristoffersen took the lead in the giant slalom on Saturday. This is his first half -time lead this season, a remarkable moment for the athlete who masterfully mastered the conditions for the race and later shone with his result. Marco Odermatt from Switzerland, only 0.15 seconds behind Kristoffersen, came in second place and also showed an impressive performance. Joan Verdu from Andorra was able to position himself in third place (+0.52 seconds) with a surprising time, which intensified the fight for victory.
Austrians fight with the conditions
The best Austrian in the first round was Raphael Haaser, who was able to assert himself in eighth place (+1.03 seconds), followed by Manuel Feller, who ends up in ninth place. Haaser, who had previously won the world championship title, expressed his concerns about the challenging conditions: "It is not the conditions I prefer," he said in ORF. He spoke of deep traces in the upper part of the salt slopes and changeable snow conditions, which were not exactly in the sense of the athletes. Stefan Brennsteiner also had difficulties and ended up in eleventh place (+1.32 seconds) after a mishap with his bond during the world championships.
Overall, there was only one outstanding swing in the field: Loic Meillard from Switzerland. Despite his sixth place (+0.84 seconds), however, he noticed two rough mistakes that affected his race. Patrick Feurstein and Marco Schwarz hung in the rear field, in places 16 and 17. These results illustrate the challenges with which skiers are confronted with changeable weather conditions and problematic slopes, as from OE24.at and Kleinezeitung.at соощает.
