Speyerer Karateka shine at the Coupe Internationale de Kayl in Luxembourg!
Speyer, Deutschland - Speyer lifted off to the triumph: The athletes of the "Shotokan Karate Dojo Spira e.V." wrote history at the Coupe Internationale de Kayl 2024 in Luxembourg! After their debut last year, the brave from Speyer put on the karate boots again on October 19 and had to assert themselves against over 800 karateka from 17 countries-a spectacle that nobody wanted to miss! The strong competitors included athletes from countries such as India, Pakistan and France. But the Speyerers could not be disturbed!
The younger Karateka were particularly in focus on the first day of the competition. Noemi Gutzler shone in the Kata U9 category and secured third place - an impressive result! Thore Holzmayr fought in the Kata U11 and took seventh place. Despite health challenges, Elias Zwick did a good performance in the Kata U13 category, but ended in seventh place. David Gutzler, on the other hand, who competed in the Kata U14 category, narrowly missed the podium and won an excellent fifth place in the small final. What a competition!

The Sunday then revolved around the older fighters. Here Jonas-Pascal Liedy was the star of the show! He gave everything in two categories: Kata U18 and Kata Senior. In the U18 category, he secured a very good fifth place! But despite solid services, he could not prevail with the seniors. The trainer and 1st Chairman Heidi Holzmayr proudly looked back on the performance: "I am more than proud of our karatekas. We can rightly look forward to the services shown and are very excited to see how our athletes will beat at the German championship of the students in Ludwigsburg on November 2." Where will the next victory bring our heroes? The tension increases!
