Gospel evening in Heidenheim: Heart and Soul in the rhythm of music

Heidenheim, Deutschland - On Sunday evening, a rousing gospel concert by Hans Fickelscher Quartet took place in the Christuskirche. The event was organized by Jazz Heidenheim and attracted numerous people interested in music. The quartet, which consists of experienced musicians, presented a varied program that included both gospel and other musical styles.

The Hans Fickelscher Quartet consists of the following members: Hans Fickelscher (Perkussion), Martin Wiedmann (electric guitar), Jürgen Häußler (tenor saxophone) and Beatrix Steinhübl (singer and pianist). Steinhübl, which leads several gospel choirs in the Stuttgart area, has had experience in gospel singing since the age of 16 and spent some time in the USA to explore the roots of this music form.

sensitive performances and powerful sounds

The concert started with two known titles from Whitney Houston before the quartet delighted the audience with a mixture of gospel, blues and rock and gentle Latin groove elements. Martin Wiedmann offered a variety of timbres on the electric guitar, while Jürgen Häußler played warm, soulful tones on the tenor saxophone. Hans Fickelscher provided a multi -layered rhythmic network with various percussion instruments, and Beatrix Steinhübl sang clearly and sensitively.

The performance of the community song in 2147 from Brooklyn, which underlined Steinhübl, was particularly evident in the intensity of gospel music in the USA compared to Europe. Although the audience initially hesitated to actively sing along, the emotional connection grew during the other pieces, especially in the case of performances by Harry Belafonte and Ray Charles. The evening ended in an enthusiastic applause from the audience, which rewarded the quartet with violent applause and demanded two encores.

In Heidenheim in parallel to this event, another musical highlight in the cafeteria of the DHBW is expected. On March 7, 2025, the brothers Moritz and Valentin Renner appear under the name of Renner, accompanied by Nils Kugelmann on the bass. This event promises to be as promising as jazz-heidenheim.de reported.
