Ferrari celebrates sensational Le Mans victory – third triumph in a row!

Ferrari won the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 15, 2025, continuing its fantastic success in this prestigious race. The private team AF Corse, which consisted of drivers Robert Kubica, Yifei Ye and Phil Hanson, triumphed with the Ferrari 499P and starting number #83. This win marks Ferrari's 12th overall victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and third in a row, having already won in 2023 and 2024, [Speedweek] reports.

Ferrari started the race from midfield, a result of their weak qualification. Nevertheless, all three Ferrari hypercars were able to run in the lead before dark. The main competitors were the Toyota GR010 Hybrid, which fell back after a puncture, and the Porsche 963, which finished the race in second place. The gap between the winner and the second-placed Porsche was 14 seconds. The Porsche drivers Kevin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor and Matt Campbell had to be content with the place of honor.

Victory for Ferrari and dominance in the LMGT3 class

Another Ferrari team, consisting of Antonio Giovinazzi, James Calado and Alessandro Pier Guidi, secured third place. The factory Ferraris with drivers Fuoco, Molina and Nielsen also took third and fourth place. During the race, the factory 499Ps suffered several drive-through penalties and Pier Guidi spun into the gravel trap, costing valuable time. The Cadillac V-Series.R, which took pole position, was able to finish fifth.

In the LMGT3 class, Austrian driver Richard Lietz celebrated his victory in the Manthey Porsche, supported by his teammates Riccardo Pera and Ryan Hardwick. This once again shows the diverse competition and the exciting battles in the different classes of the race.

A look back at the history of Le Mans

The 24 Hours of Le Mans, first held in 1923, enjoys a special place in motorsport. The first edition took place on a dirt track with 33 cars and the first winner was a duo from France. Over the years, the race has seen many memorable moments, including tragic accidents like the one in 1955 and unforgettable duels between automotive giants like Ford and Ferrari.

The race has evolved over the decades, most recently with the transition to hybrid technology and increased participation from leading brands from around the world. However, Ferrari remains a central player in this venerable tradition and with its victory this year has once again proven that the brand remains highly relevant in the modern era of motorsport. The next 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place on the 19th/20th. September 2025 will take place for the 88th time, for the first time not in June and with a large number of teams preparing for another fight for overall victory.
