Mysterious disappearance: How Google Maps solved a tragic case
A tragic fate occurred in Belgium, which was only discovered years later by chance. Marcel Taret from Andenne briefly left his wife Paulette Landrieux, who suffers from Alzheimer's, alone on November 2, 2020 while he was hanging out laundry in the garden. During this short period of time, the 83-year-old disappeared without a trace. Marcel had previously treated her to lunch and her favorite TV show, but when he came back, Paulette had disappeared from the face of the earth. Despite an intensive search by the police, supported by helicopters and rescue dogs, she remained missing for a long time. It was only years later that the case was solved through Google Street View - a neighbor saw the Street View image of their street, which shows Paulette walking away from her house while Marcel was hanging out the laundry. These images eventually led to the sad discovery of her remains at the bottom of a steep slope near her home, where she may have lain during early searches the Crown reported.
An unusual character in the film
Parallel to this tragic story, there is the fictional character Paulette from the French comedy, who fights for survival with an unconventional approach. After the death of her husband, the main character, portrayed by the talented Bernadette Lafont, lives in a modest prefabricated building while confronting the realities of old age and financial difficulties. The plot revolves around her impressive adventure when she decides to sell marijuana to supplement her meager income. Her evolution from a bitter old lady with racist views to a friendlier personality shows the change she undergoes through her unexpected entrepreneurial journey. This amusing and at the same time serious story caused a stir and promoted an interesting discourse about social prejudices and challenges in old age Degeto reported.
