Winkel remains JU boss: Junge Union calls for a clear change in migration policy
Dramatic developments in Halle (Saale)! Johannes Winkel, the 32-year-old lawyer, was confirmed in his office as chairman at the Junge Union's “Germany Day” with an impressive 239 out of 266 votes. Despite 25 votes against and two abstentions, this result of 90.5 percent shows that the JU has support within its ranks. This is a clear commitment to the stability and youth power of Germany's CDU-CSU youth!
The “Germany Day” is by no means just a routine meeting. Rather, the Junge Union is sending clear messages to Berlin! Under Winkel's leadership, a breath of fresh air is called for in pension policy in order to minimize the burdens for future generations. There is urgent discussion about reforms within the Union, while Winkel has already positioned himself as a constituency candidate for next year's federal election. All eyes are on the election on September 28th!
Linnemann: Clear words for the election campaign
CDU General Secretary Carsten Linnemann heated up the mood and called for a fundamental course correction in migration policy. To frenetic applause from the delegates, he explained that cooperation with the Greens without real changes to migration policy would not be convincing. He also questioned whether there should be constant discussions about the AfD. “Let’s leave it at that and fight the AfD politically!” he shouted to the cheering crowd. Together with Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff and other party leaders, the Junge Union will continue to fight for a strong, young voice in German politics!
