Christmas magic in Neumünster: Captain Knitterbart takes the stage!

Neumünster.During Advent, the stage in Neumünster becomes the scene of an exciting adventure! The Niederdeutsche Bühne (NBN) is bringing “Käpten Knitterbart and his gang” to the boards, based on the popular book by Cornelia Funke. Director Philip Lüsebrink created the stage version together with Katharina Manke, which will captivate not only children but also adults. A spectacle that stimulates the imagination and takes viewers into the world of pirates!

The story revolves around two siblings who fight boredom in their children's room by transforming themselves into the roles of pirates and adventurers. The audience is involved in the action with lots of music and interactive elements. The premiere will take place on November 23rd at 4 p.m., followed by further performances on the weekends until December 15th. A highlight: The prompter Erika Wittig will not act in the background, but will appear on stage as the children's grandmother and speak Low German!

Cast and special features

The roles are exciting: Annkathrin Köper plays the bearded pirate, while Leon Rückert embodies the girl. Director Lüsebrink finds the gender switch refreshing and emphasizes that theater knows no boundaries. The production does not require any technical gadgets - the actors sing live and thus create a direct connection with the young audience. “It’s about friendship, courage and the joy of playing,” explains Lüsebrink, while underlining the message of the piece: Creativity doesn’t need digital tools!

Tickets are available for all performances and cost between 9 and 10 euros. The morning performances for schools are already fully booked, but the evening performances promise an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
