Christmas market at Lohmen Castle: Festive highlights for the whole family!
On December 14th, Lohmen Castle will be the scene of a festive spectacle! The Christmas market “Around Lohmen Castle” opens its doors at 2 p.m. and promises an unforgettable experience for young and old. For the 19th time, the historic setting is transformed into a winter wonderland full of festive cheer, delicious treats and handmade gifts.
The celebratory starting signal is given at 3 p.m.: the mayor and Santa Claus open the market together and cut the traditional “Lohmener Riesenstollen”, which was baked by the local bakery Walter. A piece of this specialty can be enjoyed in the Stollencafé, with the proceeds going to the children of the Lohmener Hortes. For the little guests there are creative Christmas crafts in the physiotherapy practice and the opportunity to put their wishes in the wish list mailbox on the large candle arch.
Music and special highlights
The musical accompaniment of the market is provided by the talented Michael Kotte, who provides festive sounds. At 4.30 p.m. the Lohmen trombone choir will enchant you with Advent melodies from the castle balcony. Another highlight of the evening is the concert by the Dresden gospel choir “The Gospel Passengers”, which begins at 6 p.m. in the hall of the Lohmen Hereditary Court. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and tickets are available in advance or at the door.
Your physical well-being is well taken care of! Whether mulled wine, hearty dishes or the famous Stollen – there is something for every taste here. Particularly environmentally friendly: cups brought with you are happy to be filled, which not only saves waste, but also gives you a small drink bonus. Visitors can also expect a colorful sleigh parade and nostalgic rides on the historic field railway. A feast for the senses not to be missed!
