Pure drama on “The Voice of Germany”! Verena de la Caridad from Frankfurt (Oder) missed the semi-finals in a thrilling competition. The 17-year-old had to assert herself in the team fights against 49-year-old Petter Bjällö from Team Samu on Friday, November 15th. With her soulful performance of “I put a spell on you” she gave the audience goosebumps and a standing ovation. But the decision was tough and the competition was strong!
Verena, who shone with her impressive voice and natural stage presence, initially sat in one of the coveted hot seats. The jury was thrilled: “That was absolutely wonderful,” praised Samu Haber. But the pressure mounted as the show neared its end. Scorpion, another talented contestant, performed “Beautiful” by Christina Aguilera and brought a message of love and acceptance to the stage. Here too, Verena was once again supported by the voting block, but fate had other plans.
The bitter end for Verena
The tension reached its climax when Kathrin German from Team Mark Forster appeared as the last candidate. She delivered the final blow to Verena with “I Have Nothing” by Whitney Houston. Tears flowed as the young singer realized that her dream of reaching the semi-finals had been shattered. But despite the emotional setback, Verena remained strong and hugged her competitor: “You were so good!”
Her manager Norbert Leitzke commented on the situation: "It's very dramatic. It's not a defeat, but rather the beginning." Verena may be out of the competition, but her journey has only just begun!
