Weimar.The time of waiting is over! The OLV Weimar orienteers have returned after years of struggle and are triumphing at the Thuringia Cup! Last Sunday, on the steep slopes of the Jena Forest, they won the coveted trophy - with a narrow lead over USV Jena. A truly thrilling duel in which the people of Goethestadt shone in a team from different generations!
With a strong cast, including Marcel Pflock, Katrin Hölzer and Frank Bombien, the Weimar team showed their strength and secured victory. In a competition that took the athletes over distances of two to six kilometers, they were also able to win three individual lanes. A real show of strength that marks the return of the OLV Weimar to the top of orienteering!
Gold rush in the Thuringian Forest!
But that wasn't all! The Saturday before, OLV Weimar experienced another shower of medals at the Thuringian middle-distance orienteering championships. Seven championship titles were won on a high plateau in the “Streitberg” biathlon arena! Eileen Heinert (D16), Katrin Hölzer (D19) and many other athletes made a golden appearance, while silver and bronze medals were also collected. A real celebration for Weimar orienteers!
And the tension remains high! Next Sunday, November 3rd, the autumn season will conclude with a long-distance competition in Munich near Bad Berka. It will be decided here who will take the coveted places in the Thuringia rankings. The chances are good for the people of Weimar – the fighting spirit is back!
