Accessibility reached: Augustinian church Gotha opens new doors!

The Augustinian church in Gotha is now accessible. This significant improvement for people with impairments was achieved with great commitment and effort. Pastor Fuhrmann noticed that obstacles were removed by various “miracles” that made the project possible. Rudolf Nicolai, a member of the parish, had the leading role in the conversion and ensured that accessibility not only takes into account wheelchair users, but also visually impaired and hearing impaired people.

In addition to the barrier -free church, the hostel in the Augustinian monastery Gotha offers a well thought -out accommodation with 17 bright and expedient rooms, each have its own bathroom with shower and toilet. The hostel is aimed at various target groups, including pilgrims, cyclists, business people and individual travelers.

In the hostel, TV, radio and telephone were dispensed with to offer the guests a calm atmosphere. A free WLAN code is available at the reception during opening hours. The room prices for 2024 are attractive: a single room including breakfast costs € 76, a double room in individual use with breakfast 82 €, and a double room including breakfast is € 104. All prices mentioned are including the statutory VAT.

The Augustinian monastery also invites you to guided tours that have to be registered in the monastery café. The costs for this are € 25 for up to 24 people. Visitors to the monastery can also enjoy regional drinks, including juices from the Fahner Höhe and Wine from the Unstrut.

The elegant historical environment of the monastery also offers sights such as the Augustinian church, which impresses with parts from the 13th century and a redesign between 1675 and 1680. The medieval cloister, the chapter hall and the sacristy are further highlights that underline the history and cultural heritage of the monastery.
