Accessibility achieved: Augustinerkirche Gotha opens new doors!

The Augustinian Church in Gotha is now barrier-free accessible. This significant improvement for people with disabilities was achieved with a lot of commitment and effort. Pastor Fuhrmann noted that obstacles have been removed through various “miracles” that made the project possible. Rudolf Nicolai, a member of the parish, took the lead role in the renovation and ensured that accessibility not only takes wheelchair users into account, but also visually impaired and hearing-impaired people.

In addition to the barrier-free church, the hostel in the Augustinian monastery in Gotha offers well-thought-out accommodation with 17 bright and functionally furnished rooms, each with its own bathroom with shower and toilet. The hostel is aimed at various target groups, including pilgrims, cyclists, business people and individual travelers.

The hostel has no TV, radio or telephone in order to offer guests a quiet atmosphere. A free Wi-Fi code is available at reception during opening hours. The room prices for 2024 are attractive: a single room including breakfast costs €76, a double room for single use with breakfast costs €82, and a double room including breakfast costs €104. All prices mentioned include statutory VAT.

The opening times of the Augustinian Church vary depending on the season. In summer the church is open on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. On Saturdays, visitors can visit the church from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and on Sundays after the service and from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Augustinian monastery also invites you to take guided tours, which must be booked in advance in the monastery café. The cost is €25 for up to 24 people. Visitors to the monastery can also enjoy regional drinks, including juices from Fahner Höhe and wine from Unstrut.
