Police warn: Thieves steal wallets and walkers in Gera!

On the night of November 4th to 5th, a brazen car theft happened in Gera! Unknown perpetrators cracked the side window of a BMW parked on Dorfstrasse and stole the vehicle owner's wallet containing personal items. The police have so far no information about the perpetrators, but warn urgently against leaving valuables visible in the vehicle. Witnesses who saw something are asked to contact the police on 0365 / 829 -0 (reference number 0285850/2024).

Rollator theft shocks residents

On the same day, a 48-year-old woman reported the theft of her walker, which had only been left unobserved for a short time from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in the stairwell of her apartment building on Leuchtenburgstrasse. The Gera police are already investigating (reference number 0286018/2024), and they are also looking for witnesses who can provide information about the whereabouts of the walker or the perpetrators.

Basement fire puts seniors at risk

Another incident shocked the city when a basement fire in a single-family home on Immenweg was reported on Tuesday, November 5th, around 5:45 p.m. The fire brigade, rescue service and police rushed to the scene. Fortunately, the fire department was able to quickly extinguish the fire. However, the senior couple (87 and 88 years old) living in the house were slightly injured by the smoke and had to be taken to hospital for medical treatment. The criminal police have started investigating the cause of the fire.
