Schmölln celebrates 111 years: pennant campaign fulfills heart wishes!
Altenburger Land. A colorful anniversary party with heart: SV Schmölln in 1913 launched an impressive fundraising campaign with over 3000 crocheted pennants! On the occasion of its 111th anniversary, the sports field and the streets of Schmölln shone in bright red and white, while the pennants not only served for decoration, but were also used for a great purpose.
The creative idea came from the SV treasurer Astrid Pohl, who offered the pennants for sale as part of the sports festival. "We wanted to use them sensibly and started a fundraiser," she explains enthusiastically. Visitors stormed Astrid's craft corner on the market to acquire the colorful pennants and thus support the good cause. At the end of the campaign, a proud sum of 1,000 euros came together, which Astrid Pohl rounded up to help seriously ill people.
Wish car fulfills the last heart wishes
The donation goes to the wish car in Jena, which enables seriously ill people to fulfill one final wish. "I saw a report on the offer of the wish car on TV, that was touching," admits Pohl. Inka Frisch, the contact person for the wish car in Thuringia, reported 140 heart desires already fulfilled, be it a last visit to the sea or the game of the favorite club. The handover of the donation was an emotional moment when Inka Frisch presented the symbolic desirable car teddy to Astrid Pohl.
