The mayor of Süsel calls for urgent renovation of the L309!
The L309 betweenSweetieandNeustadtis on the verge of collapse! Mayor Adrianus Boonekamp (CDU) describes the condition of the road as “catastrophic” and calls for urgent measures to be taken to renovate it. The road is marked by a lot of damage, with deep potholes and dangerous ruts that test drivers. Particularly frustrating for road users: In the past, this road was often used as a diversion while the A1 was being renovated and suffered even more as a result.
The State Office for Road Construction and Transport (LBV) has now taken drill cores to check the condition of the asphalt layers. “If the ceiling renewal is sufficient, we can move forward with the planning,” said a statement from the LBV. But what happens if the damage is more serious than expected? Information about this remains obscure. Meanwhile, drivers have to come to terms with speed limits of 50 km/h as the road mutates more and more into a “shock absorber test track”.
Potholes and ruts on the L309
According to the LBV, the L309 only has a status of “in need of renovation”, which is hard to believe given the condition of the road. A quarter of the state road network in Schleswig-Holstein shows worse values. The next condition survey report is not expected until 2025, meaning drivers will have to live with the dilapidated road conditions for a long time to come. “It’s sad that the road is so bad,” complains Boonekamp. The renovations currently underway do not appear to be a priority enough, while the L309 remains one of the most heavily polluted roads in the region.
