City of Halle closes criminal hotel: windows are bricked up!

Halle (Saale) – A once thriving apartment house on the Silberhöhe has turned into a sad shadow! What was celebrated as a “nice, affordable hotel” in 2018 is now a hotspot for homeless people and criminals. The city of Halle is now pulling the emergency brake and taking action: From Monday, the windows on the ground floor of the eleven-story building on Silbertalerstrasse will be sealed with masonry!

René Knote, head of the general regulatory affairs department, announced the drastic measure. The use of chipboard apparently could not prevent unauthorized persons from entering the building. The fire brigade had to be called out again and again to control the situation. The city of Halle has had enough of these constant disruptions and wants to send a clear signal with this campaign!

Drastic measures against decay

The decision to brick up the windows is another step in the fight against decay and crime in the city. While the apartment building was once a popular spot for travelers, it has now become a crime scene. The city administration's goal is to increase the safety of citizens and rid the building of its bad reputation.

The measures are not only necessary, but also overdue! Halle shows that she will not stand idly by and watch as a once-glorious place is transformed into a danger zone. The city is determined to take back control and improve the image of the Silver Heights!
