Fuel prices are skyrocketing: gasoline and diesel are now more expensive!

Munich (ots)

Fuel prices in Germany have taken an unpleasant turn. After a long period of falling prices, the costs of petrol and diesel are now rising sharply. According to the latest ADAC analysis, which evaluated the prices of over 14,000 gas stations nationwide, the average price for a liter of Super E10 is 1.673 euros. This corresponds to an increase of 4.2 cents compared to the previous week. Diesel fuel has become even more expensive: a liter currently costs an average of 1.584 euros, which corresponds to an increase of 5.5 cents.

The price increase is caused by the recent increase in crude oil prices. A week ago, the price of a barrel of Brent crude oil was around $74; It has now risen to over $77 and has even exceeded the $80 mark at one point. The background to this increase is the concern about a renewed escalation in the Middle East and the associated fears of a further expansion of the conflict. In addition, the euro has been trading at less than $1.10 since mid-August, making it more expensive to purchase crude oil, which is traded in dollars on the world market.

Tips for refueling

In order to save money at gas stations, we recommend comparing prices in the immediate area and going to the cheapest gas station. The “ADAC Drive” app can be very helpful here, as it shows the current prices at the various gas stations in Germany in real time. A price comparison not only promotes savings, but also increases competition among providers, which in turn can have a price-dampening effect. It is also advisable to avoid the morning peak times and instead fill up in the evening, when prices are often lower.
