Christmas tree giants are coming: Hartha is preparing for Advent!

Hartha. On Thursday the Christmas tree at the Obermarkt in Waldheim will be flown in spectacularly! The crane operator, possibly Enrico Thielemann or his former boss Thomas Keßler, will lead the impressive spectacle. These specialists from Nossen are in demand at the peak of the season to bring the festive trees to the market squares. In Hartha the tree was put up on Tuesday, while Leisnig had it the day before.

The two experienced construction machinists are faced with a real challenge: the strong wind makes it difficult to place the tree precisely into the designated sleeve in the market square. This sleeve is over a meter deep and ensures that the tree remains stable even in storms. Enrico Thielemann, who has been self-employed with his company “Lifting Heavy Loads” since 2010, communicates with his colleagues in the crane almost without words - just with hand signals and looks, as if they were a well-rehearsed team on a runway.

Tree transport and challenges

The spectators watch, spellbound, as the 13-meter-high Christmas tree, a magnificent Colorado fir, hangs on the crane. With a weight of 2.5 tons, it is a real eye-catcher! Thielemann has harvested and set up many Christmas trees in his career, but the biggest challenge was transporting a tree from a hillside in Leisnig. “Setting it up here in Hartha is child’s play compared to that,” he says.

Thielemann has already moved machines weighing up to 40 tons, but the Christmas tree is more of a lightweight for him. With four different cranes in his fleet, he is ideally equipped to lift a wide variety of loads. During the run-up to Christmas, he and his team are traveling in the region around Nossen and will be setting up a total of five Christmas trees in surrounding towns this November. The anticipation of the festive season is increasing as crane technology ensures that the Christmas spirit takes hold in the cities!
