DSC volleyball players triumph: home game against Suhl in the quarterfinals!

Wiesbaden/Dresden.An impressive victory for the DSC volleyball players! In the first round of the DVV Cup they defeated the VC Wiesbaden reserves with a clear 3-0 (25:18, 25:10, 25:10). Alexander Waibl's protégés showed an outstanding performance and mastered their compulsory task with flying colors. While they waited for their return flight in Frankfurt, the players eagerly watched the draw for the quarter-finals in Düsseldorf. The draw gave them a home game against VfB Suhl, which will take place on November 23rd at 6 p.m. The anticipation is great, but the challenge should not be underestimated, because Suhl knocked the defending champion Schwerin out of the competition in the round of 16!

"It's obviously a difficult draw. Suhl is in very good shape. We have a lot of respect for how they play. It will definitely be a hot match," explained Waibl. He emphasized that the upcoming duel with Suhl, despite the recent victory in the Bundesliga, will be anything but a walk in the park. The tension is rising as the other quarter-final pairings also cause a stir, especially the duel between Potsdam and Stuttgart, where the Brandenburgers inflicted their first defeat of the season on the defending champions.

Waibl leaves two stars at home

In the round of 16, Waibl gave some regular players a break. So setter Sarah Straube and top scorer Marta Levinska stayed at home while Larissa Winter pulled the strings in the game. Eva Zatkovic shone on diagonal and was voted MVP, while Lotte Goertz replaced Patricia Nestler in the libero position. After initial difficulties, the DSC ladies found their rhythm and took a decisive lead in the first set. Zatkovic converted the first match point with an ace and secured the clear victory in just 59 minutes. "We pushed through with concentration after a few initial difficulties. In the end it was a clear affair," Waibl summed up with satisfaction.
