Wadgassen celebrates 20 years of the Christmas market: a festival for young and old!

Wadgassen becomes a Christmas wonderland! The traditional Wadgass Christmas market is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and attracts visitors from near and far. From November 29th to December 1st, the historic abbey courtyard will be transformed into a festive paradise with numerous stalls offering regional products and handmade Christmas items. There is something for everyone here - from delicious treats to unique decorative items that invite you to linger.

A special highlight this year is the live ice sculpting performance, which takes place on Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Using a hammer, chisel and saw, you can create impressive Christmas ice sculptures that shine in atmospheric light. For the little visitors there is a carousel and a large campfire where they can bake stick bread. The festive atmosphere is further enhanced by the arrival of Santa Claus, who brings little surprises to the children.

Social campaign “Star Magic”

The Christmas market also has a social aspect: a fundraising campaign is held under the motto “Star Magic”. 'Kommunalstrom Wadgassen GmbH' provides candles that can be purchased by visitors. These candles are set up to form a large candle star, and the proceeds go to the “Citizens in Need” relief fund in the Saarlouis district. Visiting the Christmas market is not only a feast for the senses, but also an opportunity to do good.

The market opens on Friday at 5 p.m. with an ecumenical service in the historic abbey courtyard. Opening times are Fridays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m./11 p.m., Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m./11 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Admission is free – one more reason not to miss this festive event!
