Care in Pirmasens: Experts urgently demand solutions!
Pirmasens, Deutschland - pirmasens. An alarming meeting of the "green ladies and men" in the Pirmasens hospital has brought the pressing problems in the German healthcare system to light. Chief physician Dr. med. Michael Mullen, nursing director Bernd Henner and Marcel Schäfer from the Rhineland-Palatinate State Nursing Chamber were guests and highlighted the challenges with which the nursing staff are confronted. Dr. Mullen, an expert in internal medicine, emphasized the importance of a motivated care team and presented the new, state -of -the -art endoscopy devices that can recognize potential health risks thanks to artificial intelligence. But while the technology is progressing, the care even remains in the crisis.
Nursing: an alarming signal
Marcel Schäfer highlighted a nursing emergency in Germany, which is tightened by the demographic development. "There are too few young people who can bring us to nursing professions, while the need increases enormously," he said. Historically, the nursing professions have organized, which has led to inadequate lobbying. The foundation of the Rhineland-Palatinate State Nursing Chamber in 2016 was a step in the right direction, but time is pushing. Schäfer criticized the exuberant bureaucracy and the "noise culture" in the system, which prevents nursing staff from spending more time with the patients. "The documentation obligation has fallen from time," said Schäfer. The State Nursing Chamber is committed to better working conditions and adequate payment, while thousands of nurses are missing nationwide.
Nursing director Bernd Henner confirmed the alarming situation: "We are in the upper third of the hospitals in Germany, but the job market is empty. We are fighting for every specialist and have to resort to abroad." The challenges are enormous and the search for qualified staff is becoming increasingly difficult. The “green ladies and gentlemen”, on the other hand, not only offer the patient in the hospital, but also an important addition to nursing staff by fulfilling small wishes and giving the sick the feeling of not being alone.
