Drama at the bus station in Andernach! On Saturday evening, November 9th, 2024, around 10:35 p.m., a violent incident broke out that shook the city. Passers-by witnessed a physical altercation between three men, while at the same time three women were victims of a shocking attack. The two accused, 19 and 30 years old, had tried to hug and kiss the women - a brazen attempt that was firmly rejected by the women!
But that wasn't all! When a brave bystander intervened to protect the women, he was brutally attacked by the two men. He was hit and kicked and suffered minor injuries. The police were quickly on the scene and arrested the two attackers. One of the accused resisted and had to expect a blood sample. A clear case of civil courage, which was however met with violence!

The Koblenz police reported the incident on November 10th, 2024 at 3:31 a.m. The shocking events shine a bright light on violent crime in the region. According to the police crime statistics (PKS), a total of 422 violent crimes were registered in the Mayen-Koblenz district in 2022, of which 15% were attempted crimes. The clearance rate was an impressive 88%!
Statistics show that violent crime is a serious problem, with a large number of suspects, 31% of whom are of non-German origin. However, the number of unreported cases could be even higher, because every incident like the one at the bus station shows how important moral courage is - and how quickly a situation can escalate!
