The Christmas and winter time markets in Mainz experienced a remarkably strong visitor interest this year. On peak days, up to 22,150 people were in the markets, whereby the highest number of visitors was counted on December 12th. If the average number of visitors was 14,130, the atmosphere was largely peaceful despite the great crowds. Thanks to the combination of a high number of visitors and efficient safety precautions, the Christmas markets were considered successful and provided a prime example of peaceful festivities.
