In a dramatic night in Bad Dürkheim, on Friday, November 8th, 2024, a 23-year-old driver from Bad Dürkheim was reported by an attentive road user who drove his VW Polo in snake lines over the B271. At 01:50 a.m. the witness alerted the police, who reacted immediately and stopped the vehicle at the office. The officers were shocked when they perceived the strong alcohol smell in the driver's breathing air.

A breath alcohol test carried out brought the frightening result of 1.76 per thousand! This is more than twice the permitted limits. The police acted quickly: the driver had to hand in a blood sample and his driver's license was immediately confiscated. An investigation for drunkenness in traffic according to § 316 StGB was initiated. The dangers of alcohol consumption at the wheel became painfully clear again when the officials carried out control.

The police Bad Dürkheim urgently warns: such risky driving modes not only endanger the driver's life, but also that of other road users. The rapid reaction of the police may have prevented worse things. The investigation is ongoing and the authorities are determined to punish such incidents.
