On a dramatic night in Bad Dürkheim, on Friday, November 8th, 2024, a 23-year-old driver from Bad Dürkheim was reported by an attentive road user who was driving his VW Polo in serpentine lines on the B271. At 1:50 a.m. the witness alerted the police, who responded immediately and stopped the vehicle at the public square. The officers were shocked when they noticed the strong smell of alcohol on the driver's breath.
Alcohol test sounds the alarm!
A breath alcohol test carried out revealed the frightening result of 1.76 per mille! That's more than double the permitted limit. The police acted quickly: the driver had to give a blood sample and his driver's license was immediately confiscated. An investigation into drunk driving under Section 316 of the Criminal Code was initiated. The dangers of drinking and driving became painfully clear once again as officers carried out the inspection.
The Bad Dürkheim police warn urgently: Such risky driving practices not only endanger the life of the driver, but also those of other road users. The police's quick response may have prevented something worse from happening. Investigations are ongoing and authorities are determined to prosecute such incidents.
