Repair instead of throwing away: Visit the Repair Café in Günzburg!

On Saturday, November 16, 2024, the repair café in the recycling center in Leipheim will shine in new splendor and cordially invites citizens to bring their broken items and repair them together with experts.

The Repair Café, which is taking place for the fourteenth time, is a joint initiative of the Adult Education Center (vhs) Günzburg, the city of Günzburg and the district waste management company. Between 2 and 5 p.m., participants will have the opportunity to bring in everything from small household appliances to electrical items for repair. The idea behind it is simple and at the same time important: repairing instead of throwing away not only avoids waste, but also promotes sustainable use of resources.

Repairing as a collective action

The motto “Repair instead of throwing away” has become established as a guiding principle. Often these are just small problems that can be resolved with the help of experienced professionals. If you want to live sustainably, you should not only buy valuable products, but also ensure that these products have a long life. In the Repair Café, the experts are available to help citizens with repairs.

Whether everyday mechanical objects, wooden or electrical items – everything is welcome. The processes in the Repair Café are designed so that after an initial check at reception, the affected items can be brought to the experts immediately. There, participants receive tips on how to help themselves. If things get too complicated, the craftsmen are ready to lend a hand themselves and work together with the citizens to find a solution. This form of neighborhood help not only promotes community cohesion, but also enables participants to
to learn skills themselves and repair their things with pride.

In case the waiting times get a little longer, the Repair Café ensures a pleasant atmosphere with fair coffee and cake. This is not just about repairs, but also about creating a comfortable atmosphere. However, participation in this special event is only possible after prior registration.

The repair request should be stated when registering to ensure optimal planning of the event. Various tools are also available so that participants do not have to bring their own materials.
