Mystery about accident on A7: Who was really behind the wheel? Police are looking for witnesses!
A serious accident occurred on the Autobahn 7 near Göttingen on Saturday, October 12th, which caused extensive damage to property, but fortunately no injuries occurred. The situation raises a central question: Who was actually behind the wheel of the accident car?
The incident happened around 11:50 p.m. when an Audi S6 Avant with two men driving towards Kassel crashed into a concrete barrier. After the impact, the vehicle came to a stop in the opposite lane. According to police, the occupants, two men aged 33 and 34, were under the influence of alcohol, which complicates the investigation.
Drivership problem
A tricky detail in this story is that both men claim to have been behind the wheel at the time of the accident. This led to the Göttingen public prosecutor's office ordering blood samples to be taken from both men and their driving licenses confiscated. There was significant material damage to the Audi, estimated at around 51,000 euros. The car itself was also confiscated by the public prosecutor.
The accident site was affected by massive damage: the concrete barrier suffered severe damage and a large field of debris stretched over a length of 250 meters. In addition, leaking fuel meant that both lanes of the motorway had to remain closed for a long time, which significantly hindered traffic.
Investigators have not yet clarified the exact circumstances that caused this accident. The police believe it is possible that the Audi S6 Avant was previously involved in a race with another vehicle. The relevant authorities are urgently calling on witnesses to come forward.
