Ridley Scott dares to make a comeback: Gladiator II brings new heroes!
London (dpa) – An epic comeback! Almost 25 years after the sensational success of “Gladiator,” director Ridley Scott dares to return to the arena with “Gladiator II.” The focus is on the young slave Lucius, played by Paul Mescal, the son of the legendary Maximus, who was portrayed by Russell Crowe in the first part. On the run from the Roman soldiers led by Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal), Lucius is kidnapped to Rome, where he has to fight as a gladiator for the ruthless Macrinus (Denzel Washington). A fight for revenge and freedom begins!
Rome is ruled by the cruel twin emperors Geta and Caracalla (Fred Hechinger and Joseph Quinn), who have no idea of Lucius' true identity. The young fighter is drawn into the bloody world of gladiators, where he soon fights for more than just his own revenge. Anticipation is high for this thrilling adventure and fans can't wait to see the return of the Gladiator!
Excitement about “No Other Land”
Another film that heats up emotions is “No Other Land”. This documentary sheds light on the disputed Masafer Jatta region in the West Bank, which has been the focus of Israeli politics for decades. The story shows the dramatic impact of Israeli military exercises on Palestinian villages and their residents. The film won the Documentary Film Prize at the Berlin Film Festival and sparked heated debates about one-sided criticism of Israel.
Psychogram in “The Devil’s Bath”
A dark psychogram awaits the audience in “Des Teufels Bad”, staged by the Austrian directors Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala. The story follows Agnes (Anja Plaschg), a woman in the 18th century who lives in an environment influenced by Catholicism. Their desperate search for belonging and the oppressive social expectations lead them into a downward spiral of psychological crises that ultimately have catastrophic consequences. A film that gets under your skin!
