Despite a deficit of 42:46 at half -time, the Hageners managed to catch something in the third quarter. But the young team from Vechta was not beaten and kept the game exciting until the final phase. vechta surprised with courage
The first few minutes showed that Phoenix may be underestimated. Vechta played bravely and confidently, while the Hagener weakened on the defensive. Despite numerous ball losses, Vechta was able to take the lead in the 8th minute through a three from Kevin Smt. The Hageners found it difficult to play in the first half and only met 2 out of 12 threes. But the Big Men Naz Bohannon and Lennart Boner provided stability, while newcomer Ralph Hounnou showed his best game in the Hagener dress.
In the third quarter, Phoenix seemed to pull the helm around when she pulled away to 70:62 through Sincere Carry's free throw. But Vechta could not be shaken off. Luke House shone with strong drives and kept his team in the game. In the crucial final phase, House equalized to the free throw line for 88:88. But Phoenix coach Chris Harris decided against a break. Bjarne Kraushaar took responsibility and secured the tight victory for his team with a free throw. A happy but deserved success for the Hagener!
