Heidenheim before changing winter: Maloney in the focus of criticism!
The former BVB player Lennard Maloney is about to say goodbye to 1. FC Heidenheim. According to reports, the association has been there without a Bundesliga victory since the end of September and is currently on a relegation place. Maloney was deleted from the squad because coach Frank Schmidt expected a different focus and better performance from him.
Maloney’s contract at Heidenheim will expire in the coming summer, and an early extension of the contract has already been rejected. The association has the plans to sell Maloney immediately, but have not received any corresponding offers so far. He had changed from Borussia Dortmund zu Heidenheim in the summer of 2022, where he mainly played for the BVB-U23. During his time at Heidenheim, he played 73 games in the 2nd and 1st Bundesliga and scored a goal. In the coming time, the association will have to cope with the challenge of navigating between participation in the Conference League and the relegation battle, including an upcoming game against FC Copenhagen in February.
criticism by coach Schmidt
Additional information about the situation of Lennard Maloney illustrates the hard criticism he received from coach Frank Schmidt. After the 1-1 draw against FC St. Gallen, Maloney could not be found in the squad and will also be missing in the upcoming duel with VfL Bochum. Schmidt emphasizes that he can only rely on players who focus 100 percent on the interests of 1. FC Heidenheim. In view of this, Schmidt indicates that a Maloney’s departure is not excluded in winter because it was considered vice captain, but did not show the expected performance on the pitch this season.
The unclear future of the former BVB tale raises questions, while 1. FC Heidenheim continues to search for solutions in the relegation battle.
