Justus Johanssen: Fitness training for the main role in the police film!

Hamburg – A new police film is causing a stir! Justus Johanssen, the 29-year-old actor from Hamburg, has trained for the leading role in “Alone between the fronts”. As soon as he got the confirmation, he hit the gym. “I knew what to expect,” he revealed in a ZDF interview. The film, which will be broadcast on November 18th at 8:15 p.m., shows Johanssen as a platoon leader of an evidence preservation and arrest unit (BFE) who becomes involved in a fatal incident during a demonstration in Cologne.

Filming was anything but easy! In temperatures over 30 degrees, the actors had to act in full gear. “It was like being in a sauna,” Johanssen recalled. Shooting in these conditions for a week was a real challenge. "The equipment weighs a few kilos and is very bulky. I reached my limits, but we pushed each other," he said. He used these extreme circumstances to make his role authentic.

Insights into police work

Johanssen not only worked in front of the camera, but also had in-depth conversations with his colleagues behind the scenes. “It was important to us that we didn’t sugarcoat anything,” he explained. Topics such as “willingness to use violence within the police” were openly discussed. "The uniform has an influence on us. It creates cohesion, but also sets boundaries," says Johanssen. He believes that police often find themselves in difficult situations that are not of their own making, which leads to frustration and escalates the situation.
