Hildegard Knef is thrilled: Sold out successes at TheOs!
Wilhelmshaven– A sensational success is on the horizon! As part of the musical and spiritual portrait “It should rain red roses for me” by the legendary Hildegard Knef, the Landesbühne Nord shows her impressive performance. A whopping ten sold-out performances at TheOs, starting with the premiere on Saturday, November 9th at 8 p.m. and lasting well into March 2025, are proof of the enormous popularity of this event. However, theater lovers will have to be patient: the next tickets will only be available on Sunday, May 4th, from 6 p.m. and on Saturday, May 17th, from 8 p.m. The city theater will also shine on a big stage!
Musical enjoyment with verve
The production by James Lyons, directed by Tobias Rott, is accompanied by musical arrangements by William Ward Murta. The talented Steffi Baur takes on the role of young Hilde, while Ramona Marx embodies the more mature Knef. Simon Kasper provides the musical atmosphere of the evening. “I was surprised at how versatile Hildegard Knef’s music is, with a lot of swing,” remarked Kasper. Double bass players Boy Petersen and Stefan Diedrich give the arrangements additional life.
The evening promises an emotional journey through the artist's music and life. "We begin with a reflective Hildegard Knef in front of her typewriter in 1975, who is visited by the young, funky Hilde. Both of them always find new ways of finding each other and complement each other," explains dramaturg Julia Keller. The director emphasizes that at the age of 50, Knef was in an exciting phase of his life. Her eventful career, which took her to Broadway, as well as her personal challenges, including war experiences and cancer, are not hidden in the performance. The texts come from Hildegard Knef's books and show her unshakable strength and her unceasing will to reinvent herself.
