In Stade, the political scene is bubbling! The CDU councilor Arne Kramer has loudly announced his ambitions to the mayor's office, while the current incumbent Sönke Hartlef will no longer run due to his severe cancer. Kramer, who has only been active in the CDU since 2018, has already positioned himself as a possible successor. Although he has not yet been officially nominated as a candidate, his application in party circles is extremely promising. The 37-year-old family man and former time soldier has already made a name for himself in the short time of his party career.

But what makes Kramer so special? He has headed the Stader district administration since the beginning of 2021 and has ensured a breath of fresh air there. Under his leadership, the citizen service previously criticized has improved noticeably. Long waiting times and chaotic conditions belong to the past. Kramer has proven that he is able to create order and conduct the administration efficiently. His qualifications in environmental and planning law could prove to be valuable if he takes over the helm in the town hall.

But Kramer does not stay idle when it comes to industrial policy. He already expresses indirect criticism of the current town hall tour and questions why important future concepts are not initiated by the city, but by the district. "We have to strengthen and support the local companies where we can," he demands, and makes it clear that he does not want to slow down the economic development of the Region. In particular, he sees the controversial settlement of a wood power plant pragmatic: as long as the limit values are observed, he has no objection to the project. "We cannot constantly scold the industry. Where else should the jobs come from?"

The SPD has already taken note of Kramer's candidacy. Group leader Kai Holm describes him as a calm and prudent colleague with clear views. The SPD plans to present a strong counter offer for election in 2026 and excitedly observes which reactions Kramer's application will trigger.
