New sports temple in Castelnau: Moussur Stadium ceremoniously inaugurated!
A spectacular event took place on Saturday November 9, 2024 in Castelnau-Montratier: the inauguration ceremony of the brand new facilities at the Moussur stadium! With an impressive area of around 320 m², complemented by a 90 m² terrace, this modern building was designed by architect Luis Gonzalez to meet the needs of sporting events and increase training comfort.
While the children trained hard on the surrounding courts, the dignitaries gathered around Mayor Dominique Marin for the ceremonial opening. Marin emphasized the importance of the project, which will not only benefit the many young athletes, but also create a new center for the community. “With 140 children in rugby, 90 seniors, 80 female members and many more athletes, the need for such facilities is enormous,” he explained. The construction costs amount to around 859,860 euros, with various government agencies contributing to the financing.
Key supporters and their messages
Geneviève Lasfargues, regional consultant, highlighted that this project embodies a forward-looking vision. “It’s great to see how many children are active here,” said Serge Rigal, president of the department. Raphaël Daubet, Senator for Lot, and Aurélien Pradié, MP, also emphasized the importance of sport and community. “Sport teaches values that are crucial for future generations,” says Pradié. Claire Raulin, the prefect of the Lot, closed the ceremony with a reference to the Olympic values: "Faster, higher, stronger - together. I wish the COC much success!"
