New flood representative Klaus Jarck: Protection for the Lühe residents!

Hollern-Twielenfleth, Deutschland - Klaus Jarck from Hollern-Twielenfleth has taken on the exciting role of the new flood representative of the Lühe community community! He has been in use since November 1 to protect the region from the increasing flood risks. This position, which is initially limited to one year, is jointly financed by the district of Stade and the Lühe community. Jarck, as a former senior judge, brings valuable experiences in flood protection and in dyke safety.

The joy of this important personnel decision is great! District Administrator Kai Seefried and mayor Timo Gerke are convinced that Klaus Jarck will support the Samtgemeinde Lühe and the Stade district, especially in view of the extreme weather events that have led to devastating floods in recent years, as in February 2022 and over Christmas 2023. Many residents fight with full basements, which underlines the need for increased support and advice.

Expertise for flood protection

Klaus Jarck will act as a central point of contact for all flood issues and help the residents on the Lühe River to take effective protective measures. He will work closely with the Office for Water Management and Coastal Protection at the Stade district and develop strategies for self -provision in order to prepare people as best as possible for future flood events. In addition, he will represent the interests of the Lühe community and develop concepts for reducing the water inflow from adjacent municipalities, taking into account the effects of seals and climate change.

Jarck can be reached every Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the town hall of the Lühe community. For personal conversations, it is advisable to make an appointment in advance. This new position is a crucial step to tackle the challenges of flood protection in times of climate change and to support the citizens in the best possible way!
